It's just what I always wanted

Whitney spent the week before Christmas at Grandma's house with her cousin McKenna. They slept by the tree each night and each morning they would find a present. Whitney would open each gift then exclaim, "just what i wanted". This week of gift receiving prepared her for Christmas morning. She was all about unwrapping gifts and fortunately I was not out done by the previous week, she still got "just what she wanted" on Christmas morning from Santa and from Mom and Dad.

We tried to make sure that our Christmas was not all about getting. We went to see the nativity display downtown. She loved all of the baby Jesus and Mary figurines. She liked that we were celebrating Jesus' birthday even though we did not get around to making him a cake. I mentioned to her about acting out the nativity with her cousins and all month she called Ryan baby Jesus and wanted to be called Mary.

Tom's family came to Idaho Falls for Christmas. It was fun to see everyone even if it was a bit chaotic. It was the first time everyone had been together for a few years so naturally we had to take family pictures. Getting twenty-six people to all look at the camera at the same time (especially when 11 of them are under 6) was definitely a challenge.

We had a wonderful Christmas break and have enjoyed spending extra time with family and friends but must admit that it will be good to get back to our normal routine.

Grandma

Whitney has a very special relationship to her Grandma. Some might say that her umbilical cord was attached to Grandma not Mom. She loves spending time at Grandma's house. Many times she will tell me, "I need to go to Grandma's and you leave Mom." She just likes having her Grandma to herself. This is good for me because sometimes I need her to be at Grandma's and I need to leave. Luckily Grandma likes having her around and doesn't seem to get tired of her. If she hasn't been over for a few days Grandma will call to see if she can play. Just this last Friday night we had not been to Grandma's yet that day so Whitney wanted to call Grandma. She pushed all the numbers (this is half the fun of calling) then when Grandma answered said "I'm sitting here, waiting for you to come and get me." Needless to say she ended up spending the night at Grandma's. Then on Sunday we did not go over there for dinner as usual. Whitney kept asking if she could go to Grandma's, finally I said, "I don't want to go". Whitney replied "then drop me off". Apparently we were screwing up her schedule and she was not about to have it. Now what I am about to tell you may surprise some of you, but she did not get to go. At least not that time.

My New Blog

So, I'm really behind the wave on this one. But I decided my kids are too cute that I should tell everyone about it. Actually, every time we look at Adee's blog Whitney asks where her pictures are. So, hopefully I'll start letting you know what we're up to. No promises that it'll always be up to date.
