So here are the promised potions class pictures. Potions class was by far the most fun. We made invisible ink, a copper polishing solution, and tried to make Felix Felicis (liquid luck from book 6)! Since we were only first year students it is no wonder we failed at this one.
Preparing for this class was a lot of fun. Whit and Ryan loved helping me come up with names and figure out what to use for the different ingredients like blood worms, werewolf spray, and tincture of toad. My potions have definitely earned themselves a place in my Halloween decorations. I will just have to find some better apothecary jars.
The older kids kept trying to guess what the potions ingredients really were. I told them not to eat the Powdered Glumbumble Horn but they didn't listen. It was neither salt nor sugar like they had hypothesized!
I didn't get any pictures of our Care of Magical Creatures class. We hid creatures (snakes, birds, large spiders, rats, and large bugs) around the yard. The kids had to find them. Each creature was worth so many points and the kid with the most points won the house cup! I can't believe I didn't get a picture of the house cup! I went to the DI and Ryan picked out a goblet. It was a brown glass goblet in the perfect shape. We filled it with candy and gave it to the winner.
This has been my favorite party that we have done and I would definitely do it again. I am filled with ideas of how to make it even better. Of course I will recruit some more professors next time!
