Bad to the Bone

So we took Ryan's 7 month pictures today. They turned out super cute! Grandma bought him these sunglasses and he looks so cute in them and doesn't try to take them off. Every time he wears them I have to sing Bad to the Bone (I'm not sure if this is the title but that is what I call the song). I'm sure Tiff will let me know since she knows the entire song, I just know that one line!

His name is my name too!!

So the other night Whitney and I were talking about Jesus and we were discussing when He was baptized. I was holding up a picture of Jesus and John the Baptist and asked Whitney who baptized Jesus. After a few moments I prompted her by saying John.... She looked at me all smiles and said, "Jacob Jingler Hiemer Schmidt." Close but not quite. We'll have to go back to the drawing board on that one.

A big thanks to Tiff for the new banner. It was nice to log on and have it updated!

At grandma's house there is a little brown wooden stool that Whitney uses for a variety of things. Yesterday it was missing, and we searched everywhere for the stool because apparently she can't wash her hands without her royal step. When it received such an honor I know not, but it seems impossible to do things with out it. She carries it from upstairs to down stairs and back. Other stools just aren't good enough.

To our great excitement Whitney now has 12 freckles. We counted them this morning after her bath. I saw two new ones on her leg and after further inspection she has a few extras on her arms and one on the back of her neck. She is excited about the new additions. I remember when Adee and I were little we used to play connect the dots and we would tickle each others leg or arm by tracing the freckles. This had to have been her idea because I traced forever and she was done in no time

Ryan is seven months old now. I can't believe how big he has gotten. Okay, big for him. I think I can say it is official that he is sleeping through the night. It has now been two weeks. I was afraid to admit it before because I did not want to jinx the cycle. The first week was rough on me, my body wasn't use to getting that much sleep and I was still up for a few hours each night. But I am happy to report that I can sleep 8 hours in a row again! He has started doing the funniest fake cry. He looks at me and cries but the entire time he is smiling. He does this until I pick him up. It is pretty funny.

We are currently remodeling our kitchen. No pictures yet, but I will post some as soon as it is finished. I must say I will be very happy with a dishwasher. It has been a rough two years without. Okay, it hasn't been that bad, but it will be nice to have a kitchen that looks clean. Up to this point I have either had clean dishes or dirty dishes on the counter, very seldom was my counter dish free. And when it was I always seemed to have an inkling to cook. So when it did happen it was not for very long. Whoever said money can't buy happiness never had to do dishes by hand!

"Mommy, I need some more hostage"

Yes, hostage (sausage) is a delicious addition to our breakfast on many a morning. Hearing her say it made me decide that it was time I write down a few of the Whitneyisms. In all honesty (not to sound like a bragging parent) she does speak rather well. There are very few things she does not say correctly, including conjugation of verbs (I am very proud of this one). That is why the few things she does flub up are so sweet. These last few little sayings I will enjoy while they last. Here are a few of the things she still has a hard time pronouncing:

Mel M's --- M&M's

lemolade --- lemonade

free----three (this one drives Tom crazy any time she says it he makes her say th th th three a million times.)

rydum----rhythm (apparently th is a hard sound to make she either says f or d in its place)

Two that she no longer says and I do miss a little:

ephalant--- elephant

swimming soup ---- suit

I know there are a few more but I can not think of them at the moment. When she says them I will have to come back and add them so I can remember once she gets them all figured out.

Catch Up

Tom was out of town this last week and he took the computer with him, so I haven't blogged for a while. That is just one excuse, the other was that I was totally enthralled with the book that Rivka mentioned to me. I finished the entire trilogy in 5 days. It was fantastic.

So Whitney has been wanting her Lewis Grandma to come to visit her. It just so happened that she was here visiting this last week. For the last few weeks Whitney has missed her Lewis Grandma. Grandma asked her if she wanted to call her Grandma Kristy, like the other grandkids. Her response was a simple no, she much prefers to call her Lewis Grandma. This week they made cookies and played princess games and had a fun time coloring and playing. According to Whitney the big mess was Lewis Grandma's fault. Too bad for her that I was here to entire time and watched her make it herself!

Whitney is sitting on my lap and wants to write her name: cWhitney.

So everyone knows Whitney's favorite letter is C. She keeps telling me that she starts with C. Apparently it is a silent one.

Last night we went out to dinner. Whitney kept looking at the girl in the booth behind us. Tom told her to stop pointing and to turn around. She said, "Dad, that girl looks like me." Tom glanced back at her and she had dark hair and very light skin. Tom asked Whitney how she looked like her and she said , "because she is pretty, just like me". She wanted Tom to tell the girl that she was pretty, but we figured it would be better coming from me. I do think we made that woman's day, everyone knows kids don't lie!

Ryan has been getting cuter and cuter every day. I am not quite sure how this is possible but it keeps happening. We found this shirt at the store and had to get it. I thought it was so clever. He has been spending the day with his dad. I think he missed him while he was gone. He seems perfectly content to sit by him all day. Tom doesn't seem to mind either.

Whitney and I spent some time trying to show him how to crawl. He just stared at us like we were crazy. He is a master at sitting up now (except for the occasional face plant into the floor). Whitney is certain he will be happier once he starts crawling. I don't think she will be because she will have to be more careful with all of her little toys.
