We took the kids bowling for their first time. Whitney really enjoyed the slick shoes.

Christmas 2010
Yea, so I was enjoying my break too much to blog about it. But I did want to post this picture. Whit and Ryan were very big helpers when it came to decorating our Christmas tree. About 1/3 of my ornaments were placed on the bottom branches. And when I say bottom I mean the very bottom, not just the bottom half of the tree. I believe it was my favorite tree ever!
How do you say.....?
So all through the semester I kept a post-it handy and wrote down the funny things my kids were saying so I could document it later. This post is dedicated to figuring out how to say things and being so excited you just say weird things (I have totally been there!).
We'll start off with Whitney.
*** She was explaining to me a game they had played at school. It was called the zombie game. I am not sure exactly how it is played, something about not smiling. At the end of her explanation she said, "I could not even keep my smile down."
*** I told Whitney to go get dressed. I called in to her from and asked how she was doing. She yelled back, "I can't read my own mind". Well that certainly was a problem. I went in and read it for her, but I was wrong the first two times!
And my all time favorite:
***Ryan was the special person at school and he was sent home a sheet for me to fill out about him. One of the questions was "What is something special about your family?". I left that one blank because I couldn't think of anything to put. Whitney saw the paper then came in to the room a few minutes later with a heart she had cut out of paper. She handed it to me and said, (exasperated tone)"Mom," (now sweet tone) "something special about our family is that we love each other." Needless to say I had to kiss her and give her a big hug.
Ryan:
***Ryan loves coloring. He especially likes "to-dot-to-dots". They are his favorite!
*** Ryan has a lot of cowlicks so his hair goes a lot of directions, mostly out. He hates getting it cut so I have let it get a bit longer than usual, however it is not long enough to lay flat. I was combing his hair and he was upset because it didn't look the way he wanted it. I asked him how he wanted it combed and he said "I want it to poke down!"
*** Ryan currently loves the TMNT (teenage mutant ninja turtles for those of you that aren't up on your acronyms) I love hearing him say their names. He doesn't quite have his "l" sound down yet so it comes out as a "ya". My favorite is Michelangelo so I make him say it at least once a day. Here is my best attempt at writing how it sounds: Mickyangayo. Believe me it is cute. I'll have to get it on video because I think I will miss it when he starts saying it correctly.
*** He was reading a book in the backseat of the car. It was a baby looney toons book. I wasn't paying much attention until he said "baby vyvester". Vyvester happens to be his favorite looney toon. Lucky me I will now get to hear about vyvester a lot.
